Presentation of IEO Report

 \;

In November\, the IEO pub lished its first evaluation focusing squarely on how well the IMF has part nered with its Bretton Woods sister institution\, the World Bank. The repo rt assessed the IMF’\;s collaboration with the World Bank as the Fund worked to raise the quality and influence of its work on issues such as e quality\, gender\, energy/climate\, and macro-structural reforms following the Global Financial Crisis. These are areas that are increasingly recogn ized as critical to achieving desired macroeconomic outcomes but in which the Bank typically has deeper expertise and experience. This evaluation is particularly relevant as the Fund works closely with the Bank and other p artners to tackle the wide-ranging challenges as the world strives to R 20\;build back better”\; following the COVID-19 pandemic.< /span>

 \;

At this event\, organized by the IEO and Americ an University’\;s School of International Service\, scholars and long -time observers of the IMF and World Bank will prove their perspectives on efforts by the institutions to work together over time\, the challenges t hey have faced\, and the opportunity that enhanced collaboration could off er to strengthen global economic governance. After welcoming remarks by IE O Director Charles Collyns and a brief summary of the evaluation and initi al reactions to it by team leader Michael Kell\, Tamar Gutner will moderat e a discussion with comments from panelists Randall Henning\, Miles Kahler \, and Bessma Momani\, followed by an opportunity for Q&\;A with other participants.
